CircusNext+
CircusNext+ aimed to, in an international setting, build capacity in both artists as well as organizers. For young circus artists, it is often challenging to be artist and project manager at the same time. Organizers, in turn, need to develop their skills in supporting young creators. The goal was to create long-term relationships between artists and organizers, in a common desire to learn from each other.
One circus company from each partner country was selected for the program; from Sweden, it was the circus company Below Zero with their performance project Korus. They participated in workshops and residencies in France, Czech Republic and Sweden, where they worked on both their artistic project and their project management with the support of mentors and producers. The organizers participated in certain workshops with the artists and other organizers. A researcher continually evaluated and documents the program’s process and results. The project was funded by Erasmus+. It was carried out in a collaboration between organisations in Sweden, Czech Republic, France, Belgium and Spain.
