Cirkus at Subtopia

Dreamy rituals, life-affirming frequencies and poetic fakir art as Subtopia is filled with circus

As part of CirkusMania, the festival that celebrates circus as a contemporary performing art, 6 performances will be presented in Subtopia between February 8 and 15.

The audience will be treated to a program of newly created performances that, in different ways, reflect our times. Subtopia welcomes international guest acts, style-defining companies and the new generation of circus artists. Visitors can expect raw and poetic fakir art, dancing stones, a circus live concert, performance lecture, and more.

In addition to all performances, we are also arranging a conversation where cultural journalist Cecilia Djurberg leads a conversation with four circus artists, from different generations, backgrounds and disciplines, about the ideas and impulses that shape today’s and tomorrow’s circus.

– It feels very exciting to present a kaleidoscope of brand new performances within the framework of the CirkusMania festival. In this year’s festival we get an insight into the trends that are moving in the art form today. In Subtopia, performances are given for both the curious and the already initiated audience, from children to young people and adults.
