Six tightrope dancers balancing over your head, the lines drawn criss-cross, high and low between the trees. The surroundings act as scenography and soundscape. Naturbalans (Nature Balance) is a strongly present circus art in close interaction with nature.
The total concentration of the tightrope dancers creates a meditative atmosphere spreading to the audience underneath them. Seeing Naturbalans will give you a pause in the stream of everyday life, a breathing space.
Naturbalans is the first performance Subtopia presents since the beginning of the pandemic. After more than a year of absence, we are very happy to be back with our free-of-charge, outdoor circus performances. We collaborate with Hågelbyparken and Lida so that we can spread circus art over the whole of the municipality of Botkyrka.
About the circus company Naked-Ape
Naked Ape was founded by Jacob Westin in 2003. The circus company has toured both in Sweden and internationally and has had a circus farm in Hälsingland as well as a venue in the old train station in Gävle.
Already as a child, Jacob started training his balance by balancing on the fence around the farm where he grew up and on lines, he put up in the hey barn. The idea for Naturbalans came from over the decades of experimenting with balance and tightrope as an art form.
