Så här beskriver artisterna sitt projekt:
“When balancing gets hard, the bodies adapt to avoid the fall, and when space gets restricted, our possibility of action decreases. On a one square meter wooden platform, two people experience their relationship together with the factors of instability, emptiness and fall. Confronted by each other’s presence and proximity, sometimes they tear apart, or even oppose each other. But the height is an important factor, and their vertigo leads them to carry and to support each other through the platform’s movement.
Paraplate is the exploration of a new structure, a wooden platform suspended by two intertwined ropes, that floats two meters above the ground. Its dimensions, height and instability allow us to explore new ways of moving and exploring the interaction of bodies, therefore emphasizing the relationship to risk.
How can we share a limited space with others?
How can we find our place and our own freedom despite the constraints?”
Om artisterna
Cassandre Schopfer och Nina Sugnaux träffades på cirkusskolan i Lausanne-Renens år 2017. De har därefter följt samma väg fram till att de tog examen från CNAC i december 2023. De delar samma drivkrafter och värderingar och är sällan ifrån varandra. Med tiden har ett starkt band vuxit fram mellan deras kroppar, och denna föreställning är en fortsättning på det. De delar en gemensam förkärlek för noggrant utformad koreografi och rörelsearbete, samt lägger stor vikt vid att utveckla sitt konstnärliga uttryck och sin egna estetik.
