In June two idea-makers will visit Subtopia to attend a residence in the culture business incubator KLUMP Subtopia. The residence program is called BiR (Business in Recidence) and the first two participants are Ana Gon\u00e7alves (Portugal) and Laura M. Pana (Netherlands) who will be in Subtopia for two weeks to develop their projects.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Build the City<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In September 2015 50 artists, activists and entrepreneurs from all over Europe visited Subtopia for \u201cBuild the City\u201d, an Idea Camp hosted by Subtopia and \u00a0European Cultural Foundation. For three days they worked with new ideas on how we can build more democratic cities with the help of art and culture. After Idea Camp 25 ideas were supported with a \u201cResearch and Development\u201d grant of 10 000 \u20ac. Two of the participants \u00a0are now coming to Subtopia to be inspired, learn more and further develop their projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ageless City<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ana Gon\u00e7alves is a lecturer at the Estoril Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotel Studies (ESHTE) and a senior researcher at the Centre for Geographical Studies, Institute for Geography and Spatial Planning, at the University of Lisbon, in Portugal. She holds a PhD in Literary and Cultural Studies and she conducts research in the areas of urban cultural studies, tourism and leisure and foreign languages for specific purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ageless City is intergenerational spaces for culturally diverse neighbourhoods in Europe. It is an experimental project that brings together younger and senior residents of culturally and ethnically diverse neighbourhoods in two European cities \u2013 Mouraria in Lisbon (Portugal) and Butetown in Cardiff (Wales). These groups are invited into intergenerational communities of practice and learning where they can use their \u2018multiple intelligences\u2019 to reflect on ways to improve the appropriation of urban spaces and the preservation of their city\u2019s cultural heritage. A Public Living Room<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Laura M. Pana is a social entrepreneur, facilitator and communications specialist. She has an academic background in Modern Applied Languages and a professional background in International PR & Marketing and Event Management. Since 2014 Laura is running Migrationlab, a non-profit organization that co-creates opportunities for refugees, migrants and locals to meet, interact, collaborate and inspire each other in cities across Europe. Migrationlab, which debuted as a blog, was inspired by Laura\u2019s own journey as a Romanian woman migrant in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dWelcome to The Living Room\u201c is a public living room co-created by refugees, migrants and locals in cities across Europe, where these communities share stories and reflections on migration using artistic expression. The Migrationlab public living rooms are safe spaces of encounter, that give these communities the possibility to connect and discover themselves, share unfiltered realities, challenge stereotypes and prejudices, befriend, and create a sense of belonging.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
